Lamenting the fact that your children seem to spend their entire Christmas glued to the PC?Bored with computer games that aspire to making you and your kids more physically active when the natural solution seems to be get outside and be active then!?More importantly, looking for gifts and toys that you want to play too? After all, you are paying for them, so you may as well get your moneys worth too without having to display your appalling lack of co-ordination on the PC gaming console.

Given global warming, its odds on that we wont be having a white Christmas this year. That means the garden is still available for minutes of crisp yuletide fun. One of the greatest boys toys this year (and we do mean boys of any age) must be Gnome Bowling.Frankly anyone with a beard and silly hat lurking at the bottom of your garden would ordinarily be shot, so standing in as bowling pins seems reasonable. Possibly one the best garden-based Xmas gifts invented, Gnome Bowling is about as much fun as you can have short of finding some real gnomes to bowl over. Simply rack up six nervous looking gnomes supplied and strike fear into their hearts with two lightweight balls.Who’s laughing now eh!

The top gifts for her often arent intended for her directly, but rather are designed to give your lovely lady more time and less stress by diverting the attention of those all consuming tyrants called small children. Now dinosaurs ruled the earth for millions of years, and whilst they are undeniably smaller, children seem to have a natural empathy with dinosaurs because they too are capable of ruling your world and causing widespread devastation.

Unify these natural allies with a ride-on mini Triceratops. This interactive dinosaur is built using some of the most advanced animatronic gadgetry in the industry which gives her a personality all of her own. If you talk to her she’ll roar back, pass her food and she’ll eat it, touch the side of her head and she’ll turn towards you. You can even sit your child on its back and listen to the baby dinosaur stamp her feet – it’s just a shame she’s too lazy to walk around the room because maybe if she did, she would have avoided that asteroid.

Many cartoons actually feature vans within in them and millions of people actually tune in to watch some of them which is quite remarkable really. Some of which are past jewels that have not really seen any real success in a long while and of course some of them are just simply made for the kids. Here are the ones that I could think of.

Mystery Machine

If there was a top trumps game based on cartoon vans then this card would beat all of them hands down. When you think of a van in a cartoon then this has to be the one that comes into the mind at first. All of this kicked off in 1969 with the original series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! The show has been running ever since and has not lost its original format of solving monster of an apparent monster. The monster always seems to be someone in disguise, where are the real monsters!. I wonder if the gang have the van on Van Leasing

A Bit Of A Classic- Postman Pat

This is more of a stop-motion feature than a cartoon but it has to be mentioned as it is certainly the most famous van to be made by somebody here in Britain It was first screened in 1981 and a newer series was made for 2006. This show was aimed mainly at the younger age group and both me and all of my friends were big fans when we were younger. The brilliant thing about Postman Pat is that he is the only Postman able to deliver the post on time!

Cheap Van Leasing has got to be something that these toons held in their minds when getting these vans.

Which has the best van in the popular South Park, Family Guy and South Park series, read part two to find out. Small van leasing is key for the next part.

It is a concern of many parents, unsafe toys. Their fears are not completely irrational either, as many children have been harmed by dangerous toys before, although accident numbers are falling after more stringent toy regulations have come into force. However, parents still need to be careful and below we highlight some of the important things to look out for to ensure toys are safe.

Sharp edges. It is imperative that toys do not have sharp edges, even if they are made from seemingly soft materials. Children can often be rough with toys and run around with them, and all it takes is a fall or a snatching motion to cause a cut or skin-pierce.

Small parts. It is generally common knowledge that children and small parts do not mix well. Because of their inquisitive nature, children often put small things in their mouth and can sometimes swallow or even choke on them. Also, toys that might not have small parts, but are fragile and can break up are just as dangerous to small children.

Chemicals. Whether it is dangerous chemicals in plastics, harmful fluids in toys, or simply toxins in the paint that they are decorated with, kids can be seriously harmed by inconsiderate materials. Thankfully most toys are tested thouroughly for dangerous chemicals, but some will always slip though the net.

Mechanical Hazards. Many toys appear perfectly safe, but are made potentially dangerous by their ill-though out functioning parts. Toys that work using elastic or springs can sometimes harm kids eyes if they are poor quality and break for example. Another example is toys that have hinges where kids can trap their fingers or toes.

All toys and Christmas gifts should comply with the health and safety regulations of their respective countries, so next time youre buying gifts for her or him look out for the endorsement logos on the toys label first.

Christmas, it’s meant to be a time to relax and spend time with your family and friends. However, it’s generally never is. The day itself is ok, however, the build up to that day is what I’m talking about, that’s where the stress can really kick in.

The worst thing about Christmas is the shopping, having to pick out gifts for all your family. Then once you’ve chosen you have to stand in the shops waiting to buy your items. This entire process happens while being knocked and elbowed by crazy people running through the shops looking for last minute presents. For the reason above, that’s why so many thousand people will do their Christmas shopping on the internet.

By choosing to shop online, you have lifted some of the weight off your shoulders, however, you still have to decide what to buy your family. One of the best things you could buy this year would be a gadget, they have become so popular over the last few years and are still a must have.

Here’s my top 5 list of gadgets for Christmas 2009.

iPod Nano. This latest product from Apple brings you both portable music, plus the added feature of being able to record video.

Nintendo DSi. The latest Nintendo handheld console, the DSi brings yet more features to the handheld gaming world. Not only does this new version come 10% lighter than the previous handheld, but it also features 2 new cameras, as well as larger screens.

PSPGo. Another handheld now, this time from Sony. This new model of the PSP is alot smaller, lighter and thinner than the current PSP. The biggest difference in this new handheld is the removal of discs, all games are bought and downloaded via the Playstation Store and then saved onto the PSPGo’s hard drive.

Tony Hawks Ride. This latest skating game from Tony Hawk is looking to change the way skating games are played. The game comes with a Wii Balance Board style controller to make you really feel like you’re in the game itself.

Logitech G19 Gaming Keyboard. Logitech are the master of all PC gaming items. The latest gaming keyboard from Logitech, the G19, towers over the previous model, the G15. With an improved LCD display, more G-keys and custom lighting, this keyboard is the master of gaming equipment.

The majority of those don’t come cheap. If you’re looking for something a little less pricey, you can still get some great gadgets at even better prices. Items such as ipod speakers and LED shower heads are great fun to have. If you’re looking for some gadgets that are more practical novelty alarm clocks are great gifts.

So continuing the discussion on whether children’s toys are twisting their minds into vile sexist pigs is the big debate on whether it is okay for a boy to play with Barbie and a girl to play with an Action Man.

After looking into it a bit it would seem that if someone would walk in on a girl playing with a toy tank they would not be worried but a boy with action man would cause some big problems. But why is this?

Well this is actually down to the parents, a lot of fathers will not feel comfortable watching their lad playing with a Barbie doll but wouldn’t mind if their daughter was playing with an Action man simply because it makes the daughter a bit cool. There are so many parents out there that do not want their sons to turn out to be gay which is stupid in itself, playing with a Barbie doll doesnt change a thing.

It would certainly seem that most of these arguments are over the girls not being able to play with the boys toys yet it would seem that in reality it is the other way round. it is almost certain that this time it is the people we should be putting the blame onto and not the big corporate companies.

In my honest opinon there is no such thing as a toy that is sexist or even racist, even the golliwog wasnt made to be a racist toy. It is the reaction from the public that shapes the view of the toy. If they choose to believe it is sexist or racist then that is their choice but personally I do not feel that when a company are designing one of those Christmas toys that they actually set out to make it sexist in any way at all. It is you the consumer that must really decide this one.

October brings us more than Halloween as it also brings in the first real countdown to the Christmas holidays which of course means Christmas itself. Is it still too early to be talking about Christmas shopping? It would seem not as many people have already started buying all of their gifts online already. Figures have shown that it is a highly productive sales period for traders who, at this time, busily maintain and improve their websites to cope with the demand.

The high volume demand is still being enjoyed by the giants of the industry such as Amazon, whose wide variety of products on sale make it easy for consumers to buy anything from white goods, and electrical products to clothing and books.

But out ‘there’ exists a market, albeit a much smaller but equally competitive one, which has turned its attention to a different list of products. Would you buy someone a telephone from one of the amazing range of funky retro phones that are available? Thes products are so good because they show a bit of nostalgia with the classic finishes on them. The sleek clean lines, soft curves contrasting with the cold metallic dialling feature make an elegant addition to any home.

There are many people out there that like to collect strange things like buddhas. They often sit in prominent places in the house, such as the fireplace hearth where they give balance and tranquillity.

Believe it or not, certain loved ones will enjoy getting a new water bottle for Christmas. It would seem that these products have come back after a big gap of no one really being interested in them at all. I can remember when I was younger, and living at home, the hot water bottles were a functional item that went unseen for most of the year. Sometimes even when the weather was bad the hot water bottle never cane out to keep us warm in the cold nights!

pIt would seem there is always a fight over some stupid thing. Whether it is racism, sexism, are you too fat, are you too thin, the argument has even moved on to a href=http://www.toysandgameschatter.co.uk/ target=_blanktoys/a. There are so many people out there now that are saying toys are promoting sexism.!–more– However is this the case or has the world just gone mad? Here are just some of the ones they are complaining about.br / br / The classic role playing game of doctors and nursesbr / br / This is a game played by mostly kids (for the adult version see somewhere else). Now I will say that it is mainly women that are complaining about this item and it is for this reason. Its the whole doctor is male, nurse is female issue.br / br / This is the target audience it doesnt matter as it is doesnt have to be their only audience? When you look at the traditional kids outfits it is very clear that the nurses outfit is for the girls and the doctor is for either so surely the male is losing out here? A lot of people actually forget about the children and just choose this as an excuse to try and get things banned, girls are more interested in being nurses at a young age.br / br / If they are really that interested in becoming a doctor they will be able to learn about it all when they hit college and university so it is not worth worrying about it now.br / br / Piratesbr / br / Even the bigger companies like Disney feel that a pirate role is best taken on by a boy. So is it fair to say girls cannot be a pirate? Many people are taking this out of proportion saying that it isnt fair that their little girl cannot be a pirate, companies arent saying that at all they just know most girls want to be princesses.br / br / Part two will be talking about Barbie dolls as well as Action Men, does it really matter who play with them.br / br / Dont fall into the power of the media; you are the parents you can choose what a href=http://www.toysandgameschatter.co.uk/category/traditional-toys/ target=_blankChristmas toys/a to buy your children./p

pThe idea for this first came into my head the other day when I was walking the streets and saw a girl that look around three wearing what looked like a very expensive necklace along with an expensive ring and bracelet.br / br / Now a href=http://www.silverisland2007.co.uk/Silver-Necklaces target=_blanksilver necklaces/a is something you would expect to find on a woman not a very small little girl and thinking back on this incident it is funny to remember just how stupid the girl looked.br / br / You really should wait until your child can say I really like this piece or I really do not like this, at the very least?!–more–br / br / It can actually be a competition between mothers on who starts the trend. Basically one mother will walk into a toy shop and purchase a cheap looking plastic ring that might look a bit realistic and then when the girl is seen wearing it many women then think, I now have to go out and buy my daughter something that contains expensive a href=http://www.silverisland2007.co.uk target=_blanksilver gemstone jewellery/a. They then will keep doing this like a tennis game until it just goes too far.br / br / This doesnt seem to be a problem here in the UK, many rich states in the USA believe this is normal and it is really funny to see.br / br / A lot of people seem to take a lot of enjoyment in actually decorating their children like they would a Christmas tree and this is just wron. How do you think Paris Hilton became her.br / br / Giving your child a a href=http://www.silverisland2007.co.uk/Silver-Pendants target=_blanksterling silver pendant/a is not normal and is about time that the celebrities and people that do this are told how to bring up children properly.br / br / The thing to remember is that a small piece of jewellery is perfectly fine for a child to wear. If you do not go too far with it then you are pretty much safe to do it./p

pOriginally dolls houses were actually aimed more at the grownups than children! It was a hobby of the more affluent people in society to collect baby houses as they were known back in the late 17th and 18th centuries./pp/ppThey were often made to actually fit inside a cabinet.!–more– It would have the appearance on the outside of an ordinary piece of furniture but when opened it revealed an impressive dolls house with many rooms. On the inside there would be furniture all scaled down to size and the craftsmanship was of a very high standards./pp/ppThe dolls which were usually made of wood or wax are extremely collectible a href=http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/toys-games/index.html target=_blanktoys/a today./pp/ppAntique wax dolls are usually made by pouring wax into a mould. Wax doesnt seem to be the perfect material for making dolls but they were less fragile than bisque or china and it could be tinted to give the doll a beautiful and realistic skin tone./pp/ppIt is sometimes quite tricky to accurately date these dolls because they were hard to mark and the only way they could do this was by labelling them./pp/ppIt was in the 19th century that baby houses came to be known as dolls houses and were often found in the nurseries of the children belonging to wealthy families./pp/ppThey were quite often furnished with exquisite needlepoint rugs and couches upholstered in silk. The furniture was more often than not made of fine wood and was accurately cut down to scale./pp/ppIt was by the end of the 19th century the dolls were made of glazed china and bisque. The attention to detail was amazing and often the dolls were equipped with their own gloves, purses, fans and even sewing kits! This made them very easy to personalise and the accessories became very popular a href=http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/gorgeous-gifts/gifts-for-her/index.html target=_blankgifts for her/a./pp/ppIn recent times plastic and metal dolls houses were introduced but undoubtedly it is the amazing craftsmanship of the early baby houses which have stood the test of time that remain firm favourites with miniature collectors today./p
